The tapir or danta is a very important species due to the ecological role they play in the forests of Costa Rica and Central America. It is an animal that feeds on plants and fruits; through its feces, it distributes seeds over large areas as it walks. It is known as the architect of the forest.
Unfortunately, they are in protected areas as they are threatened by habitat destruction.
